Ah, art and nature… a blessed union! This incredible work is by Atlanta, GA ceramicist Dow Redcorn and it is definitely a combination made in heaven. This is a small snippet from his ‘about’ section, and I thought it summed up this organic/functional work perfectly:

“I have been fascinated with nature, forests and the life cycles of trees my entire life. The aspen of Colorado, the bald cypress of Louisiana and the white oak and acorns in my own backyard have all been sources of inspiration. My art work reflects this in the form of trees, acorns, leaves and stumps. As a Native American from the Osage Indian Tribe in N.E. Oklahoma, the images of animals, nature and spirits that have long adorned our tribe's ceremonial clothing and blankets have had an influence on my work.”

Absolutely magical work and words. Thanks Dow.

Staying with the ‘Nature / Ceramics’ theme is our own Raine Middleton. Her combinations of flowers and plants created w/ a sgraffito technique on her functional ceramic forms are priceless (a little hyperbole since they’re all priced to sell - but you know what I mean 😊)

Steve Loucks

Gasp! Breathtaking, bold work by Steve Loucks on the site today. And this teapot is simply amazing and an example of what he does! (Adore this fern green color!) And no one does it better than Steve - his forms - his glazes - and his unparalleled sense of design. Boy is he amazing.

NEW work online by Robert Thomas Mullen.

“As I grow older and the world becomes increasingly more complicated, I look to create beautiful and simple forms. In a world of sensory overload and social media, I encourage myself to always give a quiet moment to sit and reflect. A moment to focus on the overlooked.”

My wife Silvia and I have only been in the gallery business for just over five years now (plus two more years spent managing Crimson Laurel Gallery). It wasn’t something either of us had a background in or even considered when thinking about a career or starting a business, but like many things that happen in life, it just happened. (…)
